The year was not so good for the Hindi movie industry. 2017 saw several flops despite some promising performances and biggest names included in these movies. Even the best of directors and producers failed to make it big at the box office. Some of the big budget films were given a cold shoulder by the audiences. Movies such as Raabta, which offered promising trailers simply failed to live up to expectations. Here is top Bollywood Flops of 2017 List.
Here are the biggest flops of the year so far:
- Jagga Jasoos
Fans had huge expectations with this Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starter movie. Made by the talented director Anurag Basu with the budget of 131 crores, this movie was a huge flop and it only minted around 53 crores at the box office. There was nothing in this movie that could hold the audience’s interest.
- Jab Harry Met Sejal
Although a watchable movie, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal was made in 119 crores. Unfortunately, it managed to collect 61 crores at the box office.
- Raabta
The trailers seemed to be very promising with Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in the lead. A story revolving around the concept of reincarnation, the movie failed to keep the audiences glued to their seats and even draw them to the theatres. With a box office collection of only Rs 27 crores, Raabta was a huge disaster. This movie could have made Sushant Singh Rajput a bigger star. However, the content and everything else in the movie went for a toss. The audiences failed to connect with the period setting.
Yet another big disaster at the box office, the movie could collect only INR 23.6 crore. Despite the hit couple Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor and the song ‘Hamma Hamma’ which did really well on the charts, OK Jaanu failed to replicate the success of the Tamil romcom OK Kanmani. The Bollywood remakes just couldn’t get as lucky. The return of Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor after Aashiqui 2 couldn’t do much for the movie. The audiences gave these stars a cold shoulder.
- Rangoon
Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, the talented director who had delivered many hits in the past, Rangoon simply proved to be a disaster at the box office. It collected INR 23 crore. Starring Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, the movie was a flop. The modern-day Casablanca by Vishal Bhardwaj was not welcomed by audiences.
- Begum Jaan
The box office collection of this movie was INR 20.75 crore. Starring talented Vidya Balan, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, and Ila Arun, Begum Jaan was a remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini. Despite some powerful performances by Vidya Balan and her co-stars, Begum Jaan failed to make an impact at the box office.
- Sarkar 3
The previous versions were hits at the box office. This one collected just INR 9.50 crore. With Amitabh Bachchan and Amit Sadh in the main lead, Sarkar 3 was a flop. This wasn’t expected from a typical Amitabh Bachchan which created magic twice in the past!
- Meri Pyaari Bindu
The movie managed to collect around INR 9.50 crore at the box office and joined the list of top Bollywood flops in 2017. Staring Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana, Meri Pyaari Bindu was a low budget movie. Also the sale of non-theatrical rights made sure that Meri Pyaari Bindu was a profitable production. The box office failure simply shows that Aditya Chopra is consistently failing in offering his best at the box office.
- Bank Chor
A super flop by Yash Raj, it is the time that Adi hires some fresh talent. YRF really needs a bunch. With box office collection of just 8 crores, Bank Chor starring Riteish Deshmukh didn’t create any magic.
- Noor
According to Entertainment news in Hindi, with box office collection of INR 7.75 crore, Noor proved to be a flop despite the very talented duo Sonakshi Sinha and Purab Kohli. The movie failed to impress the audience.
- Machine
The amazing combination of Abbas-Mustan had delivered many super hits in the past. These brothers clad in white are known to be trusted agents for Superhits. However, this was one of the biggest disasters by this duo despite the fact that it had Abbas’s son Mustafa in the main lead. The box office collection for this movie was around INR 3.15 crores. It is also ranked as the lowest performing film of the year.
- Aa Gaya Hero
Superstar Govinda who was immensely successful in carving a niche for himself in Bollywood with his unique dancing style hoped for a major comeback with this movie. The box office collection of this movie was INR 1 crore. Despite a comeback after several years, this movie proved to be a huge disaster.
